What does it mean to achieve a Super Lawyers rating?
Attorney James T Flaherty has been recognized as an accomplished divorce and family law attorney by a number of attorney rating services throughout his four decades of practicing law in Connecticut.
Connecticut Super Lawyers recognized Attorney Flaherty in every year from 2009 until his retirement in 2022.
Selection to Super Lawyers is not a small achievement. Only up to 5% of all attorneys are recognized by Super Lawyers, and the service does not utilize a “pay to play” selection process. Super Lawyers uses a multiphase selection process that includes peer nominations, evaluations, and independent research to determine which attorneys will receive the honor. What Is Super Lawyers?
Super Lawyers is an attorney rating platform that rates attorneys from more than 70 practice areas and produces Super Lawyers lists in 50 states and Washington, D.C
In addition to peer nominations and evaluations, the multiphase selection process performed by Super Lawyers includes independent research and analysis of the following criteria:

- Transactions
- Representative Clients
- Experience
- Honors/Awards
- Special licenses/certifications
- Position within the law firm
- Bar and/or professional activity
- Pro bono and community service
- Scholarly lectures/writings
- Education/employment background
- Other outstanding achievements
